Description of current research
My current research is at the integration of Digital Image Processing and its application in Dental and Maxillofacial Radiology and Forensic Dentistry. In this innovative work, I harness digital image processing techniques to enhance the quality and interpretability of dental and maxillofacial radiographs. This includes the optimization of radiographic images obtained from various modalities, such as panoramic radiography and cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). Within Dental and Maxillofacial Radiology, my research aims to improve the diagnostic accuracy and visualization of oral and maxillofacial structures. By employing advanced image processing algorithms, I enhance the clarity of dental images, facilitating dental caries and early detection of bone pathology, and aiding in proper treatment planning. In the realm of Forensic Dentistry, my research contributes to human identification and age estimation based on dental and craniofacial radiographic data. In digital image processing, I develop tools for precise age determination and the identification of unique dental features from various dental radiographs, thereby enhancing forensic applications and the accuracy of human identification. This research is pivotal in advancing dental and maxillofacial radiology and forensic dentistry, making significant strides in both clinical and forensic practice.
